Pc keeps downloading files to online onedrive

But suddently Windows Runtime Broker started to download all of my files from OneDrive to make a index of them, but now my harddrive are filled with files I just want on my OneDrive and not locally on my computer. No it didn't help. Runtime broker keeps downloading files even if the folders are set to not sync. I put my Onedrive settings to 'Files on demand' so the files should only be downloaded when I use them. Why is this happening? This issue began a few months ago, and is very annoying. The only workaround now is to not sync my pictures folder which means I can't access pictures using the photos app , or to pause syncing, which is also not good.

Hi, I also have the same issue. I free up space on my PC using the "Files on Demand" "Free up Space" options and then a few hours later, Runtime Broker kicks in and downloads all files in my Pictures folder.

All other content remains "on demand", but all files in the Pictures folder are downloaded. This is very annoying, please help. I think I may have found the cause and solution. I don't have Sony Overview Under certain circumstances, backups on Windows 10 devices inadvertently trigger the download of online-only files that are managed by OneDrive Files On-Demand.

In reply to deleted message. When you login to OneDrive. If yes, then OneDrive is doing what it is supposed to be doing, syncing your computer with your OneDrive. In reply to IshaiH's post on September 7, I have the exact same problem on Build —so I guess Microsoft did not fix it in your build. I wound up turning off on-demand as a stopgap until Microsoft fixes the problem. Certainly not ideal, but it sort of works for the time being.

It downloaded over 8GB of files, although it was set not to do so. I even tried selecting some of the OneDrive folders in File Explorer and choosing Free up space, but the files would return to downloaded status, showing a green checkmark icon, instead of the cloud icon.
